Puerto Escondido, Mexico, and the end of Mexico

February 19th, 2009

After more than six weeks in Mexico - a fabulous country to which you should immediately buy airline tickets - we were headed south and east on the final leg of our trip. Ahead of us, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, but first, the painful necessities of insurance and border preparation. What is there to do in a dusty Mexican border town? Click here to find out.

Oaxaca, Mexico

February 17th, 2009

Out of Mexico, into Oaxaca. Once again, we get “hilariously” lost and test out our mediocre Spanish on underserving locals. Also: the best language school in Mexico, the most welcoming B&B, and what do tarantulas like to do when it’s cold? Get sociable with people, of course. Click here to real all.

How to cross the Mexican border

February 13th, 2009

Las Vegas, USA (+ video)

January 2nd, 2009

Fancy seeing some boobies and losing some/a lot of money? Visit Vegas and you can accomplish these things, often at the same time and without leaving your over-oxygenated hotel room. Also: this may be the only city in the world where you’ll be offered money in return for wanking. Click here to find out how.

Iowa, USA (+ video)

December 26th, 2008

The Hunter Valley, Australia (+ video)

September 15th, 2008

We visit Australia’s premier wine-producing region and got quite trollied, thanks very much. Click here to see (hic) how we got on.

The first five months: The Google fallout

July 1st, 2008

The truly interesting part of our trip has come to an end, and we’re on a kind of backpacker hiatus in Sydney. Still, SFTGE has had its fair share of readers. Click here to find out how you arrived.

What I’ve learnt

June 29th, 2008

Five months, 15,000 miles, and over 6,000 photos. One fake driving license and a multitude of cockroaches. Countless trains, buses and boats. We must have learned something. Click here to find out what.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

June 1st, 2008

We arrive in one of Asia’s biggest and most populated cities. Mostly we choked on the smog, but click here to see why Asia’s largest shopping mall is worth a visit, and how to fly with the parakeets.

Langkawi to Penang, Malaysia

May 23rd, 2008

The morning after we arrived in Langkawi, my camera, having sulkily refused to respond all night after getting thoroughly drenched, showed a flicker of life. I un-expectantly flicked it on and it rewarded me by coming to life. I hesitantly tried a shot. It clicked away and produced a perfect image. This was little short [...]
