We stop relaxing at Mui Ne and get the bus to Saigon. Loud music, motorcycle touts and giant cockroaches ensue. Although whether a cockroach would be less concerning if it was small is debateable. Click here to see how loud we screamed.
We buy some trousers that don’t zip off in the middle. Also, find out just how much heat exhaustion will make you vomit, and find out where the best restaurant in Hoi An is. Click here for the lowdown.
We just never get tired of buses. This time it’s a 19-hour effort to take us from Hanoi to Hoi An, the tailoring capital of Vietnam. Find out what it’s like to ride on a bus with beds by clicking here.
We return to Hanoi for our last day before moving on to southern Vietnam. We arrived at five in the morning, though, so the following could be an alarming mess of non-sequiturs and sepllnig msiteakes. Click here, if you dare.
We visit Sapa in northern Vietnam. It’s the closest we’ve come to China since Hong Kong, and we spend our time dodging souvenir sellers and hiking an unbelievably long way. Find out whether it’s fun walking on mud in 40 degree heat by clicking here.
We visit the nicest hotel we’ve seen in months, jog our memories vis a vis cereal, and visit the place where Republican Presidential hopeful John McCain was held during the Vietnam war. He had a great time, apparently. Click here to see how we got on.
We visit monkey island, named for its tiny inhabitants. We see monkeys (small and aggressive), try kayaking (slow, exhausting and wet, if good fun), and sprint for our boat back to the mainland. Find out if we were forced to spend the night with Bobo and friends by clicking here.
We visit Halung Bay, one of the most beautiful natural harbours on Earth. 2,000 stunning, unexplored islands, wild monkeys, and tourists who want the engine turned off so they can get some sleep. Find out how many stupid people got pushed overboard by clicking here.
We have our worst day of travelling so far. It involved the following: Canadians, Germans, 27 hours on buses, rain, rip-offs and domestic disputes. Find out if we took the first plane home by clicking here.
